In short: Queenstown Pocket is a free app for visitors and locals, built in New Zealand by Tally Sphere Limited. It launches in November 2026 on iPhone and Android. Join the waitlist below and you get the link on launch day and a founding member badge in the app.
What is in it
- Every Orbus bus. All routes, stops and the next departures, including the airport bus at $2.50 with a Bee Card. Timetables are stored offline.
- Walking tracks. Distance, climb, time and the track line on an offline map, from Queenstown Hill to Ben Lomond.
- Snow. Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona and Treble Cone: open status, lifts, road conditions and the buses that get you there.
- What is on. Events with dates, and deals from local operators, with the price on the card.
- Tours and activities. Bookable through partners where available, with the commission stated on the card; everything else links straight to the operator.
- Offline first. The map of the whole basin is downloaded once, so the app works on the Glenorchy road, on the tracks and at the ski fields.

When does Queenstown Pocket launch?
November 2026, on the App Store and Google Play. Everyone on the waitlist gets the download link the day it goes live, before it is announced anywhere else.
Is the app free?
Yes. The app is free to download and use. Where a tour can be booked through a partner we earn a commission, and the card says so.
Does it work without phone coverage?
Yes. The map of the Whakatipu basin, the bus timetables and the walking tracks are stored on the phone, so they keep working on the Glenorchy road, on the tracks and in the gondola.
Which phones does it run on?
iPhone (iOS) and Android. Both versions launch at the same time.
