Privacy Policy
Queenstown Pocket — the website and the app · Last updated 31 August 2026
Who we are
Tally Sphere Limited, a New Zealand company based in Queenstown, operates the queenstownpocket.com website and the upcoming Queenstown Pocket mobile app. For anything in this policy, contact us at hello@queenstownpocket.com.
We handle personal information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, and send email under the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 — which means we only email people who asked us to, every email identifies us, and every email has a working unsubscribe.
The waitlist
When you join the waitlist we collect your email address, plus where the signup came from (for example “site”) and when it happened. That’s the entire record.
We use it for one purpose: to tell you about the Queenstown Pocket launch — the launch announcement and, at most, a small number of updates directly about it (for example a beta invite). We will not sell your email address, rent it, trade it, or use it for anything unrelated.
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe or ask us to delete your record entirely at any time by emailing hello@queenstownpocket.com.
Where your data lives
- Storage: waitlist records are stored with Supabase in the Sydney, Australia region, in a private database schema with restricted access.
- Email delivery: confirmation and launch emails are sent through Resend, an email delivery service; Resend processes your email address to deliver those messages.
- Hosting: our hosting provider keeps standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and secure the site, as all web hosts do.
These providers process data on our behalf and on our instructions. We keep waitlist records through the launch period, then delete or archive them once they’re no longer needed for the purpose you gave them to us for.
Cookies and tracking
The website sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores your waitlist status locally on your own device (so the page remembers you’ve signed up) — that information never leaves your browser. If we add website analytics, we’ll use an aggregate, privacy-respecting service and update this policy.
The app
Queenstown Pocket (launching November 2026) is built offline-first and data-minimal: trail maps, timetables and guides are downloaded to your device, and browsing them doesn’t require an account. Before launch, this policy will be updated with the app’s specifics — including any account features, booking flows (handled by the tour operator or booking partner you book with), and crash or performance diagnostics. The same principles will apply: collect the minimum, use it only for the stated purpose, sell nothing.
Bus timetable data shown in the app comes from the Otago Regional Council, licensed CC BY 4.0 — it’s public data and contains no personal information.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us at any time:
- what personal information we hold about you (it will be your email address and signup details);
- to correct it; or
- to delete it.
Email hello@queenstownpocket.com and we’ll respond promptly. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially — for example when the app launches — we’ll update this page and the date at the top. We won’t reduce your rights over information you’ve already given us without asking you first.
