This calendar is seeded with the events that matter to a visitor’s plans and grows as the app’s events feed fills before launch. Dates shown in New Zealand time; check the organiser’s link before travelling for an event.
Getting there
Queenstown Marathon. Organiser shuttles run to the starts ($20 for the marathon and half, $14 for the 10 km); expect road closures along the lake until early afternoon and book beds weeks ahead. Orbus Route 1 runs town, Frankton and the airport as normal outside the closures.
New Year's Eve Fireworks. Walk if you are staying in town: Earnslaw Park is on the town centre lakefront. In 2025 the council closed a number of roads near the event and listed them on its scheduled event road closures page, and kept the whole town centre alcohol-free around the clock from 6am Christmas Day to 6am on 6 January.
