In short: A tandem skydive with NZONE is from $379 at 9,000 ft, from $469 at 12,000 ft and from $575 at 15,000 ft, buying up to 25, 45 or 60 seconds of freefall (NZONE’s prices page, read 4 October 2026). The step from the lowest altitude to the highest costs $196 for 35 more seconds, our arithmetic, and the canopy ride is the same from all three, so the question is how much a second of freefall is worth to you. The minimum age is 6 and the minimum weight 40 kg. If the price is the problem, the Kawarau bungy is from $320 and the Shotover Jet $199.

NZONE prices each altitude “from”, and the page adds a card surcharge of 1.2% on card payments at the drop zones, except NZ Eftpos and debit cards, and on all cards used over the phone (NZONE prices and deals (opens in a new tab), read 4 Oct 2026). Photo and video packages are sold on top and were not priced on the page we read, so the figure at checkout will be above the table for anyone who wants the footage. Skydive Southern Alps, the other operator flying from the Queenstown basin, is not in the table because its pages returned errors on 29 September 2026; we name it so you can check it yourself rather than print a price we could not read.

What the extra altitude buys

The three altitudes differ in one thing, the length of freefall before the parachute opens. The figures below are our arithmetic from the from-prices above and NZONE’s stated freefall times.

Our arithmetic: what each step up in altitude costs per extra second of freefall, from NZONE's from-prices read 4 October 2026
StepExtra costExtra freefallPer second
9,000 ft to 12,000 ft$90 more20 more seconds of freefall$4.50 a second
12,000 ft to 15,000 ft$106 more15 more seconds of freefallabout $7.07 a second
9,000 ft to 15,000 ft$196 more35 more seconds of freefall$5.60 a second

The 12,000 ft jump is the cheapest per extra second and the 15,000 ft jump the dearest; the 9,000 ft jump is the same aircraft, the same drop zone and the same landing for the least money. A first-timer who wants the experience rather than the duration loses nothing at the lowest altitude except the extra seconds.

Questions people ask

How much is a skydive in Queenstown?

NZONE Skydive lists three tandem altitudes on its own prices page, read 4 October 2026: from $379 for 9,000 ft with up to 25 seconds of freefall, from $469 for 12,000 ft with up to 45 seconds, and from $575 for 15,000 ft with up to 60 seconds. Photos and video are extra and priced at booking. Card payments at the drop zones, except NZ Eftpos and debit cards, and all cards used over the phone carry a card surcharge of 1.2%.

Is 15,000 ft worth the extra money?

By our arithmetic the top altitude is $196 more than the 9,000 ft jump for 35 more seconds of freefall, or $5.60 a second, and $106 more than 12,000 ft for 15 more seconds. Every altitude ends with the same canopy ride, so the money buys freefall time and nothing else; the 9,000 ft jump is the same view for the least.

What is the minimum age and weight to skydive in Queenstown?

NZONE's prices page gives a minimum age of 6 and a minimum weight of 40 kg, and asks anyone 95 kg or over to check its FAQ before booking, as a weight surcharge or a limit may apply. The other bungy and jet options on this site have their own age rules; the Kawarau Bridge bungy is from age 10 and the Nevis from 13.

How long does a tandem skydive take?

Viator listed the NZONE tandem as 3.5 hours and Klook as up to 3 hours on the dates on this page, both counting the transfer from town, the briefing and the wait for a load; the jump itself is about a minute of freefall at most and a few minutes under canopy. NZONE's own prices page gives no total duration, so treat the half day as the plan and the exact time as unconfirmed.

Is there a cheaper skydive in Queenstown?

Skydive Southern Alps is the other Queenstown operator, but its pages returned errors when we read them on 29 September 2026, so we have no price to compare and do not guess one. For a cheaper drop of a different kind, the Kawarau Bridge bungy is from $320 and the Shotover Jet is $199 an adult, each on its own guide here.

Is it cheaper to book NZONE on Viator or direct?

On the dates on this page Viator listed NZONE from $359 and Klook from $379, against NZONE's own from-price of $379 for 9,000 ft; the marketplace listings may be for a different altitude or a promotion, so compare the altitude before you pay. Booking through Viator or Klook pays us a commission; booking direct pays us nothing.
