Queenstown Airport parking: what it costs, and when Park & Ride wins
The airport publishes its full rate card. Here it is in one place, with the sums done for the stays people actually make.

In short: The terminal car park is free for 20 minutes, then $4 to $20 for up to 12 hours and $30 a day ($28 from day 7, $25 from day 10). Park & Ride on Brookes Road is $20 for the first day and $10 a day after, free shuttle every 40 minutes. Five days: $150 at the terminal, $60 at Park & Ride.

Directly in front of the terminal, 24 hours, tap a card to enter and exit, pay on exit. The closest bays (P20 Express) are for pick-ups and drop-offs; under 20 minutes the barrier opens on number-plate recognition without a ticket. Six Tesla destination chargers (Type 2) sit in the same car park; charging is free, parking is charged as normal. Stays over three months need approval from the airport’s ground transport team first.

- Shuttle. Free, every 40 minutes, seven days, with a luggage trailer; about 15 minutes to the terminal. First departure 100 minutes before the day’s first flight, last one 60 minutes after the last arrival. Early and late runs only when a flight is scheduled.
- Payment. Cashless: tap a credit or debit card to enter and the same card to exit; transactions of $200 or more need the card inserted with a PIN.
- No booking. Arrive and take the next shuttle.

The break-even is a few hours: for anything over a day, Park & Ride is a third of the price, and the shuttle time is the trade. The 7-day terminal figure uses the $28 rate that applies from day 7; the 14-day figure uses $25 from day 10.
Or do not park at all
If the car is only for getting to the airport, the Route 1 bus is $2.50 with a Bee Card each way and runs roughly every 15 minutes from the town centre and Frankton; a taxi to the terminal is quoted by the airport at $50 to $85 from the CBD. The car guide covers when a rental is worth it at all.

Is there free parking at Queenstown Airport?
The first 20 minutes in the terminal car park are free (the barrier reads your number plate; no ticket needed under 20 minutes), and the first five rows are set aside for those quick stops. The kerbside pick-up and drop-off zone outside the terminal is no parking and no waiting.
What does long-term parking at Queenstown Airport cost?
At the terminal, $30 a day, $28 a day for stays of 7 days or more and $25 a day from 10 days: a week is $196, two weeks $350. Park & Ride is $20 for the first day and $10 a day after: a week is $80, two weeks $150. Stays over three months need prior approval.

Drive to Brookes Road, tap a credit or debit card at the barrier, park, and take the free shuttle, which runs every 40 minutes seven days a week with a luggage trailer; the ride is about 15 minutes. The first shuttle leaves 100 minutes before the first departure and the last leaves the airport 60 minutes after the last arrival. No booking; pay when you leave with the same card.
Is it cheaper to take the bus than to park at Queenstown Airport?
For anyone staying in town, yes: the Orbus Route 1 bus is $2.50 with a Bee Card each way and runs roughly every 15 minutes, against $30 a day for terminal parking. Parking makes sense for a car you need at the other end of the trip, or for a drop-off under 20 minutes.
