About Coronet Peak
Coronet Peak is the field you can see from town and the one you can ski after work: it sits 16 km and about 20 minutes from the centre up a sealed road, and it usually runs night skiing on Wednesdays and Fridays from early July to early September (1 July to 4 September in 2026, now finished for the season). It shares the NZSki Superpass with The Remarkables, so a $180 adult day at one is a day at the other.
The Snow Factory lets NZSki open a strip in late May before the natural snow arrives, which is why the 2026 season started on 29 May on limited terrain and properly on 13 June. First Tracks (29 June to 20 September in 2026) gives an hour on the groomers before the lifts open to everyone.
Without a car, the NZSki Ski Bus from 9 Duke Street is the way up ($36 adult return); Orbus does not climb the access road. With a car, carry chains from June to October and fit them when the sign or a staff member says so.
